Prof. Zachariou initiated operations at the Holy Vatopedi Monastery in order to support the wish of the fathers to receive medical care within the Holy Mountain, not having to go in public hospitals interrupting their spiritual life. A new fully equipped hospital is in construction and Prof Zachariou consults the architects.

The University of Nis awarded Prof. Zachariou the Visiting Professorship of the Medical School of the University of Nis for his contribution to the education of Pediatric Surgeons in East European countries.
Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h,c. Zacharias Zachariou was awarded the Guest
Professorship of the Medical School of the University of Pécs, Hungary in May
2015
Within this framework Prof. Zachariou was the 25. Lecturer of the Imre Pilaszanovich Lecture. Imre Pilaszanovich was a Paediatric Surgeon at the Medical Faculty of the University of Pécs and is the Father of Padeiatric Surgery in Hungary.
This honour was bestowed to Prof. Zachariou for his merits to Paediatric Surgery in Europe, especially for his support of the Hungarian Paediatric Surgical Association but also for his support to many Paediatric Surgical Associations in many Eastern European countries and their integration in the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association.
The 15th International Congress of the European Paediatric Surgeons’
Association 2014took place in Dublin. More than 700 participants visited this
congress and exchanged their scientific views for 4 days.
The Congress was inaugurated by his excellency the Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny (2nd from left in the picture) Prof. Zachariou, the acting president of the Association welcomed the Prime Minister.
Prof. Dr, Zacharias Zachariou took over the presidency of the EUPSA
on 07/06/2013 (European Paediatric Surgeons' Association) in Leipzig at the
annual congress.

Prof. Dr, Zacharias Zachariou organized the 18th European Paediatric
Surgeons' Association Congress 2017 as well as the 24th International Meeting on
Colorectal diseases in childhood.
During 6 days the over 800
participants were informed on the latest developments on Pediatric Surgery.
Prof. Zachariou took over his duties as vice dean and director of
studies at the newly established Medical Faculty of the University of Cyprus on

On Monday 26th March 2012 a memorandum of understanding was signed
between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.
Zacharias Zachariou to cooperate in the field of pediatric surgery.
The
MoU was signed by the Health Minister Stavros Malas and the distinguished
Cypriot Professor of Pediatric Surgery and President elect of the European
Paediatric Surgeons' Association, Dr. Zacharias Zachariou in a ceremony at the
Archbishop Makarios III hospital in Nicosia.
